Wrap Up of Weekend Preps including trip to Tampa Bay Downs
Wednesday March 19, 2008
John was in Tampa last Friday to screen the film at Tampa Bay Downs at the cocktail party the night before the Tampa Bay Derby. . .

Met a lot of great people down there who want to spread the word about the film. Many thanks to Margo Flynn and Penelope Miller for all their hard work. Also to the Thayers (TBD owners) and GM Peter Berube. Great folks. Put Tampa Bay Downs on your list of tracks to make a road trip.

Renowned equine artist Peb and War Pass owner Robert LaPenta were both in attendance and both told John they enjoyed the film. Especailly Peb - he came up to John halfway through the film and said it was “important” and was mad at the people who weren’t paying as close attention and chattering to each other. Peb’s our new #1 fan. Here’s what his work looks like. Always on the cover of the Racing Form on the day of a big race . . .

Couldn’t stay for the Derby the next day as I had to head to Cleveland for the film festival. So I missed Big Truck’s upset and War Pass’ poor race. Guess that leaves Pyro as the horse with a bullseye on his hindquarters. I wouldn’t count out War Pass but it will make for an interesting 6 weeks to May 3rd . . .
With Denis of Cork skipping the Rebel, Sierra Sunset emerged as the new leader out of Arkansas while Georgie Boy scored in the San Felipe at Santa Anita.
Seems wide open to us. Let us know who you think are the frontrunners at this point?
