DERBY WEEK RE-CAP . . . PART DEUX
Wednesday May 14, 2008
Then we flew into to Louisville with DVD’s in hand, ready to begin making back our investors money.

Hazy shot of Louisville from the plane
We headed to the backstretch to soak in Derby. Ran into one of the biggest fans of the movie . . . .

Larry Jones - here with John and his wife - calls our movie “the best horse racing movie EVER.” Thanks Larry.
This guy experienced the agony and the ecstacy within a 24 hour hour period. His filly Proud Spell won the Kentucky Oaks on Friday. As you probably know, his other filly - Eight Belles - was second best in the Derby only to suffer a bizarre double ankle injury while galloping out, resulting in her euthanization. Anyone who questions this guy should really meet him - a kind, hands-on, caring horseman.
Headed off to breakfast at world famous Wagner’s with a bunch of friends from our movie . . .

(left to right) Cousin Paul Parrish, Jake Romans, Dale Romans, Bob Holthus, forgot his name (sorry!), Rocco O’Connor and John
Oaks Day (Friday 5/2) was probably our biggest media day to date . . . we appeared on MARTHA STEWART’S televison show, JIM ROME’S nationally syndicated radio show, CINDY ADAMS nationally syndicated column and then on ESPN’s live coverage at Churchill Downs . . . .

Yukking it up with Kenny Mayne
Kenny is an awesome guy. Pick up his book today. After you buy our DVD of course . . .
That night, we got to go to the Mint Jubilee - a black tie deal - to have a couple of drinks. We were so burnt that we couldn’t stay very long. We bagged going to the Playboy party too. They were probably really bummed that there weren’t two other jackasses standing by the bar cracking jokes to each other.
At the party, John took time out for one picture . . .

Boxing out former Kentucky great Scott Padgett
The picture’s not that embarassing. What was emabarassing was when I realized I had him confused for Lousiville’s David Padgett - referencing the Cardinal’s recent Final Four appearance. Sorry bro. It was a long day . . . .
Up at 5:00 AM on Derby Day, getting our sales areas ready. Here’s our tent by Gate 10 . . .

Believe it or not, later in the day, Brad often had a line 15 deep signing autographs . . .
John was located near Gate 17, trying to get everyone’s attention with some help from his friends…

We did alright selling DVD’s but what we really helped to do was spread awareness about our little movie. We feel like just about evryone in racing has heard of the film now. Gotta keep plugging away . . . . Make sure you buy your DVD’s today . . .
This guy, however, was the biggest winner of the weekend. When I asked him who he liked, he told me his horse wouldn’t lose.
