John at the Wood Memorial
Sunday April 6, 2008
Headed out to Aqueduct to watch the big race but mainly to promote the film. And when I say “promote the film”, I mean hand out postcards with the movie’s info on it to anyone that looks like they might go to the movies.
That’s legendary turf writer and race historian Steve Haskin showing his support.

Don’t have the exact attendance but a good crowd turned out to see War Pass on a beautiful day at the Big A.

Our east coast marketing team - me - walked around for 4 hours handing postcards out. It was great to hear how many folks are actually aware of the film. Many folks saw Brad and I on OUT OF THE GATE and HRTV.
Hung out a bit with the good folks from the Thoroughbred Bloggers Alliance like Dana from “Green But Game“, Teresa from “Brooklyn Backstretch”, Jessica from “Railbird” and the legendary Ernie Munick.
Then it was time for the Wood . . . .

War Pass - with Cornelio Velasquez up - in the paddock

Tale of Ekati looks calm

Edgar Prado and Barclay Tagg get on the same page

Our main man Johnny Rock capturing all the action from his perch

Tale of Ekati catches War Pass

War Pass owner Robert LaPenta and trainer Nick Zito start mulling options

And it’s on to Churchill for Tale of Ekati

Awesome photos, thanks! It’s ALMOST as good as being there (but not really, of course).
